Woodland Garden
My clients wanted to reclaim a large area of their garden which had become very overgrown. My design had to incorporate established trees with preservation orders, an existing tree house and a tennis court. Working with these elements I transformed the site into a naturalistic, but manageable, woodland garden. Under the trees I used shade loving plants and even made a feature of an old woody stump which was softened with ferns and hydrangeas.
The informal design is complemented by a geometric paved area with a contemporary stone seat. Log walls provide a habitat for insects and form an integral part of purpose-designed composting bins. I specified laurel hedging to mask the boundary fence and thereby visually blend the garden into the woods beyond.
