New Build Garden

Central to the design of this garden for a new house – built on what had previously been a sloping field – was a large terrace made of Indian sandstone slabs set diagonally. Wide, radiating, stone steps lead down from the terrace to an expansive lawn. At the sides of the house I designed more intimate seating areas and at the front an expanse of paving with decorative stone planters.

I made parts of the garden further from the house more informal. In these areas I specified silver birches surrounded by areas of wild flowers in order for the design to visually blend into the landscape beyond .
